All you need is love

love is all you need!!!  I found these cute matching/coordinating onesies and shirts at Target so we thought we’d do a shout out to the Beatles!!!

Normally I would say look at my cute little monkey’s….but I don’t guess that’s appropriate in Beatles attire now is it?!?!?July 27 021  July 27 023

my little artist

Today Brady and I went to the painted potter, a little studio in our area ( that is actually owned by a sorority sister of mine)  where you pick out pieces of pottery and paint them how you want them and then leave them there for them to send them through the fire and make the even prettier!  Brady is pretty into coloring and painting these days so I thought it would be a fun little outing…especially considering it’s been raining the entire week and we haven’t been able to get out much!!

And of course he loved it!!!

Home sweet Home

We’re home!!!  Sweet little Karsyn is doing great!

We had a LONG night in the hospital!  Between feeding, pumping, changing diapers and techs coming in every 4 hours to do vitals there wasn’t much sleeping going on in room 1017!!  Not to mention the 4 am CT scan we had….yes 4 am…I guess if I’d actually been asleep I would have been a little more upset about this!!!

BUT, Karsyn was eating great, resting well, and her CT scan and xrays look fine, so we finally got the nod to head back home about 2:00 yesterday afternoon.  Dr. Dauser is going to continue to watch her closely for a while of course, but we’re happy to have our little family back together again!!!!

Thanks again for all the prayers!  It’s so amazing to feel so completely covered in prayer.  So funny how an experience can be awful and amazing at the same time!!!!

In the books

Surgery #6 is finally in the books!!  There was a point today where Jeff and I didn’t think we would ever get there and a point where everyone on the 3rd floor of TCH wished we would hurry up and get there!!!  Karsyn’s surgery was scheduled for 10 am today….so she couldn’t have anything to eat past 4:00 this morning.  So we fed her at 3:45 and got to the hospital about 7:45…….she went  back for surgery at 1:30.  A 4 month old baby who hasn’t eaten for 9 hours is NOT a pretty sight!!!  BUT, all in all she did amazing.  The shunt is in and she is in recovery waiting to head up to her room.

Pray that Karsyn is comfortable tonight and that we get a little sleep!!!  And pray for a discharge tomorrow!!

Thank you so much for all the prayers today…we definitely felt each and every one of them!

On a completely separate note….please keep praying for our nanny situation.  We’d hired a nanny and felt really good about it…only to have her email us (today of all days) to tell us she’d accepted another positions.   WOW…quit before she even started…nice huh?!?!?  SO we begin again!

twin time

It’s so fun for me to have both babies on the floor playing at the same time!  Hilarious to watch them bat at each other and coo and “talk” back and forth!

The babies are doing great!!  Karsyn even gave us 6 hours in a row last night!! She ate at 9:00 and didn’t wake up again until 3:30!  Now if we could just get Kaden to jump on the band wagon!  We had several doctor appointments yesterday one of which was with Dr. Dauser.  Although her head is growing slowly, he still feels it’s going in the wrong direction and decided we just needed to go ahead and do the shunt.  So, Miss Karsyn will be having surgery tomorrow morning about 9:00.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Pray for Dr. Dauser as he performs the surgery and pray that her little body bounces back just as it as in the past.  Dr. Dauser said we will have our own room on the 10th floor, so it will be nice to have some privacy after the surgery!!!  She should be released some time on Friday as long as all goes well.  I plan to take my computer to update as the day goes along so stay tuned!!!

Until then here are a few pics of our precious miracles during twin time!!

Zing Zang Zoom

On Sunday afternoon we took Brady to the circus!!!  We took him last year for the first time because he was free!  He loved it and has talked about it all year.  He remembered details and would talk all about the specific acts that he saw.  So we decided to take him again!  This year was even more fun.  He really got into the show and would clap and play along with the “siddy” clowns!  He says his favorite parts were the “siddy” clowns, the elephants, and the tigers!  He has run around the house showing us his magit (magic) tricks all week!  His little imagination is really starting to come through.  It’s so fun to watch him grown up and turn into such a good little boy!!!  I can’t believe he’ll be 3 in a few weeks!

My camera wasn’t cooperating (not sure why) so my pictures aren’t great and there aren’t that many of them…..but here are a few from Brady’s special day at the circus!

Big Helper

Brady is such a blessing!  He is really a great big brother!! I don’t know what we would do without him!  He is always kissing and hugging and trying to entertain the babies!  He loves to hold them and really is very tolerant of us needing to feed babies.  And occasionally he even pitches in during feeding time!!!

Such a sweet boy!!  we love you Brady Scott!!!!

and just for fun!  Look what came in the mail yesterday!!!  Let the games begin!

July 16 046

The babies are doing well.  Gaining weight like crazy (they should as much as we feed them!), and starting to interact more with us during the day.  We were pretty busy last week with Dr. appointments and unfortunately Karsyn’s head was a little less stable on Tuesday when we went to see Dr. Dauser.  He asked to see her again Thursday and began to talk about a shunt again.  On Thursday there was no change so he just wants to monitor her closely for a while.  As Dr. Dauser put it “a shunt is definitely not the end of the world”  yes we had hoped to avoid it, but if we can’t it will certainly provide relief for the swelling on a more permanent basis.  Yes she would have to be readmitted for the surgery, but he said as long as all goes well she would be released the next day.  SO, as always…who knows!!  I just thought our rollercoaster ride would end when we got out of the NICU!!!!  We’ll keep you posted and as always keep baby girl in your prayers!!

Visitors

We’ve had a busy week with some fun visitors!!!  We’ve had a lot of visitors over the past few weeks but for some reason I just this week thought to get out my camera and take pictures with our visitors…oops!

On Wednesday Uncle Jason and Aunt Melissa came to see the twins.  Aunt Melissa had a chance to come see the twins when they were in the hospital,  but Jason hadn’t met them yet.  The K’s were very excited to meet their Aunt and Uncle!

On Thursday my Aunt and Cousin, Juli and Stephanie came in town for a visit!!  We were so excited to have a few days with them.   Brady loved having extra attention and mommy and daddy loved having extra hands around during bottle times!! They even pulled half a night shift for us on Thursday night!!!  Jeff and I didn’t know what to do with 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep!!  Thanks so much for coming guys!!!

Tough Chick

I saw this onesie a couple of weeks ago and knew Karsyn HAD to have it!!  If she’s anything she’s definitely a tough chick!!  Jeff and I are amazed daily with all that she can do and all she has overcome.  We know her battle will be a tough one but if anyone can overcome these obstacles our tough little chick can!!!!July 9 031

The kids are doing great.  ECI, which is the organization that comes out to our house to evaluate the kiddo’s and recommend a course of therapy for them, has been coming out for Kaden for the last several weeks.  He is doing very well and is even performing ahead of his adjusted age….2 months in most area’s where his adjusted age at the time of evaluation was birth.  His main issue right now is his vision, which was to be expected because of ROP and his prematurity.  But they gave us activities to do with him and we can already tell a differenced.  They will hopefully come out to do Karsyn’s evaluation in the next week.  We’re anxious to get her started in some therapy!  We have doctor appointments usually 2 days a week so it’s really not that bad.

The rest of the time this is what you will find at the Brewer house these days………
