a lucky girl

I often hear my friends complain about their doctors.  Whether it be their pediatrician, family practice, or OB…there’s always stories of deliveries/diagnosis going terribly wrong and of awful bedside manners and etc.  As I listen I feel so blessed.  It’s no secret that I LOVE our pediatrician, but my pediatrician was recommended to me by my equally amazing OB!  Most of you know that my pregnancy with Brady was pretty high maintenance.  I was on bedrest for 10 weeks and ran the gamut on pregnancy induced conditions for 8 months!  And while I know she has and had a TON of other patients I always felt so important while in her office.  I love having Doctors that don’t make me feel rushed and seem to genuinely care about my well being.  Dr. Wynne has such a sweet, calming spirit.  I remember telling my sister one time that when Dr. Wynne called to tell me I had to be on bedrest I seriously though she was going to cry!  So invested and so caring!

When the twins were born she was in the NICU all the time checking on them and would call to get updates.  When they moved to TCH I gave her the blog address so she could read updates.  At my last appointment she came in and shared the she and her two boys prayed for the Brewer babies every night when they said their prayers!  How awesome is she?!?

Anyway, long story short……on the babies birthday she wasn’t in her office and we couldn’t stop to say hi.  She wanted to meet them so badly that we arranged to have a play date this weekend!!!!  It was so fun to see her and the babies, of course, were very excited to meet her!!  She brought her boys and they had a great time playing with Brady and Jeff!

What a fun experience that I’m sure most people don’t have.  God truly blessed me as he placed such caring physicians in my path.  Just a reminder that EVERY detail is planned and orchestrated….and I’m so thankful!!

Thank you Dr. Wynne for caring so much for my family!

since needless to say we didn’t have the fun “after delivery picture with babies” here they are 1 year later!!!!

1 year pictures

We’re a little tardy with the 1 year pictures….and we decided to turn them into one year, 3 1/2 year, group pictures!  Our schedule and budget didn’t allow us to do fun outdoor pictures as I would have liked, but our old faithful portrait innovations pulled through for us!

Karsyn wasn’t interested in smiling and/or looking at the camera…and she certainly wasn’t going to do them both at the same time!  While we were waiting on the pictures to print we had lunch at Cafe Express….during lunch she would NOT stop smiling…and jabbering and interacting with everyone around…OF COURSE!

Kaden is the one I was worried about.  He has stranger danger/separation anxiety lately.  He isn’t adjusting very well to being out with a lot of people.  He however, was a complete HAM….just when I thought I had my kids figured out!

enjoy!

I’m trying to do a better job of taking pictures!  I leave my camera out so that I will remember to grab it to capture the important memories just hanging out around the house!!!  Nothing spectacular but here are a few!

little of this…little of that

We had a great spring  break!!  We did a whole lot of NOTHING and loved it!!   I took the twins (and Brady of course) to daddy’s game on Tuesday.  It was fun to be in public and show the twins off…FINALLY!  And I was glad they got to meet so many of the soccer families that prayed for them like crazy last year!!  I had my camera with me, but didn’t take 1 picture…not sure what I was doing?!?

here are a few pictures from the past week….

Team Karsyn and Kaden

The Brewer’s will be doing the March of Dimes March for Babies walk again this year.  Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. We're walking because we want to do something about this.

The money we raise will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.

Obviously this is an organization and an event very near and dear to our hearts.  We walked last year in honor of our 2 babies in the NICU.  This year we will walk in honor of our 2 babies that will be in the stroller “walking” right along with us!  We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to walk in honor of Karsyn and Kaden and to in turn help this great cause.

The walk is on May 1st on the Uof H campus.  We would LOVE to have each and every one of you join our family in walking as a member of  Team Karsyn and Kaden!  We know not everyone can commit to walk, and we welcome any and all donations to this amazing organization on their behalf.  You can donate, and join the walk by clicking the March of Dimes logo in the side of the blog!

See you May 1st!

Oh Brady!!

I’ve made it no secret that 3 has been a ROUGH stage with Brady!!  He tests our patience every second of everyday!  Just this week Brady managed to climb on and break all the shelves on his bookshelf, paint his toes, my couch, and pillows then he tried to take the toenail polish off with toilet paper…when that didn’t work he stuffed it down the sink drain….all of this was one day….before 9:30!  And although this morning in particular I wanted to curl up in a corner and cry he does have his moments!  He’s learning so much and to be honest is really starting to try to control himself and listen to the things Jeff and I tell him to do….now don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t always do them, but I do see improvement!!!

On Wednesday, Jeff and took Brady to moody gardens to see the Dora and Diego 4D movie.

since the movie only lasted 15 minutes we decided to go ride the ferry.  Brady loves big boats!photo(3)

we had a good time with our little stinker.  On the way home we were talking about our day and I said “Brady, what was your favorite part of the day?”  without skipping a  beat he replied “spending time wiff mommy and daddy”  MELT MY HEART!  He IS a stinker, but he’s a sweet stinker!!

One more bradyism!  Yesterday the therapists were here working with the babies and Brady popped around the corner and had a peppermint in his mouth.  I said “Brady, did you ask if you could have a peppermint?”  he looked at me and said “Yes”.  I got my teacher face on and said “Brady?”  he so seriously responded “mommy I asked Jesus and he sayed yes”.  And how do you argue with that one?!

We love our little ornery 3 year old!!!

1 year stats

I’m a little behind, but I wanted to post the babies 1 year stats so I wouldn’t forget in the years to come!  We had their check up last Friday and Dr. Isenhower was very pleased at how well they were both doing!!!

Kaden James – Baby A

birth:  1lb 14 oz and 13 inches

1 year:  21lbs 13oz and 28 1/2 inches

Kaden is now on the charts for both height and weight!!!  If I remember correctly (sorry I get confused with 2) he’s 20th percentile for weight and like 15th for height!!!  Kaden is doing great.  So great in fact that Dr. Isenhower took all mention of premature off his charts.  She no longer views him as having any complications!  He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on anything he can get his hands on!  clapping, starting to wave a little and developing his little personality more and more everyday!!  It’s definitely been an adjustment to have him mobile.  Mommy and Daddy are definitely on their toes and keeping big brothers little toys out of reach isn’t as easy as it used to be!!!   I still don’t think I would consider Kaden sleeping through the night…..he’s still up, on average 1 to 3 times a night.  He’s definitely a cuddler….I guess that’s why he chooses not to sleep!!  He’s wearing a size 4 diaper and pretty much 12 – 18 month clothes depending on the brand.  Kaden, we’re so proud of all you’ve accomplish and can’t wait to watch your flourish this year!!

Karsyn Jane – Baby B

birth:  1lb 13 oz and 13 inches

1 year:  16lbs 5 oz and 27 3/4 inches

Karsyn is now on the charts for height!!!  I think it was like the 9th percentile, but we’re counting it!!!  Karsyn is doing well!  She is almost sitting on her own, jabbering like you wouldn’t believe and giving out killer smiles to everyone….but no one gets quite as big a smile as Brady!!  It’s pretty cute to see her react to him and vice versa!!!  Karsyn is still having some issues with her vision and I have actually requested she begin to receive visual services via ECI.  Our new therapist came to do an evaluation and I LOVE her!  I’m so glad we’re getting this therapy for Karsyn I think it will help a ton.  She said Karsyn has some cortical visual impairment.  Meaning what she is seeing isn’t always being interpreted correctly by her brain.  The good news is it’s correctable so we’re excited to get started!!  She still prefers to use her right arm for most things, but she is definitely getting stronger with her left and we work on it quite a bit.  Karsyn has just moved to size 3 diapers and is wearing pretty much 6 month clothes depending on the brand.  Karsyn you are such a sweet baby girl.  I admire your spunk and tenacious spirit.  I look forward to watching you continue to defy all odds.

and for your viewing pleasure…a few pictures of my little angels!!
