Plug it back in there

Well, little Brady is getting so big!! His umbilical cord fell out yesterday! Daddy's response was, "plug that thing back in there I don't want him to grow up"! And this is just the beginning!

Mommy and Brady have been getting tons of quality time together since Daddy went back to work. Yesterday we took our first car trip together to take daddy to lunch. The 10 minute trip took about 30 minutes because Mommy drove so slow and kept stopping to make sure Brady's head wasn't flopping forward! Surely other first time moms have done the same thing right??? I've turned into one of those worry warts that I used to make so much fun of...........

I got some new socks from Grandma...how cool am I now?!?
I'm ready to take Daddy to lunch

This is our second attempt at a cousin picture....
better than the last one, but we'll keep trying!

3 generations of Brewer men! They're already discussing
my golf swing - whatever that is!
My favorite outfit! At least that's what Mommy told me!
My 2nd favorite outfit...at least that's what Grandanny said!

Do you promise this is the last picture for today?

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Brady is definitely adjusting to life at home. He's starting to get into a routine of eating every 2 to 3 hours, and then sleeping and sleeping some more. We get to see his eyes every once in a while, so we try to grab the camera when we do! We managed to capture a smile for the first time....very exciting. Mommy and Daddy are loving every minute and are trying to get in as much "Brady" time as we possibly can! We're not sure he realizes that we actually do sleep in a bed and not on one of our shoulders! I'm sure we'll pay for this later, but right now we're eating it up!

Enjoy the pictures of our little man!

What a sweet boy!!!!

yummm this finger is good!

I got this mom

Mom thought it would be fun to give me a mohawk.....

I'm not amused

Home Sweet Home

The last two days have been interesting! We've been busy introducing Brady to his new home, and lots of new friends and family. Brady's having a blast, and mom and dad are exhausted!! The first night was a little rough, not so much on Brady as on mom and dad. The pack and play where he sleeps started off on the other side of the room, and slowly (well quickly) made it's way to mommy's side of the bed where she could stare right in at him!! But we're learning!

Here are some pictures of some of Brady's first adventures at home!

Look I got one chin from Daddy and one chin from Mommy!

Daddy's kisses are so much better now with no beard

Is it sad that my 4 day old has a better tan than I do?

These are my cousins Jacob and Hannah. Jacob promised to show

me all his toys and Hannah is going to introduce me to all her cute friends!

This is my new friend Cooper. He brought me pooh slippers like his...aren't they cool!

We're going to have a lot of fun together!
Finally, they put me down and let me sleep!
Snug as a bug.....seriously, what is mom doing?

Brady's Here!!!!!

**UPDATE**
Many of you have been asking me to post Brady's birth story...so now 4 1/2 months later I'll finally post the details!!!!
Brady's Birthday
I had two doctor appointments that morning. My first one was at 8:00 with our specialist, Dr. Kirshon. I woke up with a TERRIBLE headache. Took some tylenol and we were on our way. Appointments with our specialist always entailed long waits....but this particular morning I was happy to lay on the table in his office in the dark trying to sleep off my headache. Dr. Kirshon came in - did his thing (measurements) told us Brady was HUGE :) and then he actually did a 3-D ultrasound for us. We were pretty pumped up...we could see what he looked like. We got done with this appointment about 9:30 and our next appointment with Dr. Wynne (my ob) wasn't until 10:45, so we decided to go downstairs to the little cafe and have breakfast...my head was still killing me.
Meanwhile, tropical storm Erin had made her way to the Houston area. It was pouring. So we hung out in the cafe a while, watching it rain thinking surely it would slack off sooner or later....Not going to happen. So I called Dr. Wynne's office and asked if I could come in early (Thank goodness I did this - I was the last appointment they took that day b/c of the storm). So, Jeff went to get the car, and off we went. I should mention that Dr. Wynne's office was only a block away. However, b/c of the rain it took us about 30 minutes...we didn't think we were going to make it b/c the flooding was already so bad on the side streets - there were stalled out cars everywhere...thank goodness for SUV's!
So, we braved the weather and got in to see Dr. Wynne. She did her thing...I was dilated 4cm and 75% effaced. We scheduled my induction for the following Friday. I then happened to mention my still horrific headache to which she flippantly replied "you know what...let's just have this baby today"
Me: "excuse me"
Dr Wynne: "a headache is a sign that your protein levels could be really elevated...you're already dilated and I don't think you'll make it through the weekend anyway, so let's do this"
Me: "uh okay"
So off we went to the hospital. Have you guys ever seen the 'I love Lucy' episode where Little Ricky is born? Ricky totally loses his mind when Lucy goes into labor (if you haven't seen I recommend it!) - this is the only way I can think to explain to you how completely insane my husband went from the time Dr. Wynne said let's have this baby to - well he hasn't really recovered yet!! We get to the hospital - again, remember the tropical storm and the stalled out cars everywhere...total chaos...all the roads leading in to the hospital were closed - they were sending nurses and staff home...awesome...let's have a baby!! Anyway, we get to the hospital, I have all my paperwork and etc in my hand...we valet the car and get into the elevators.
Kim "Honey, where's my bag"
Jeff: "Crap, I forgot it, I'll go back and get it when we get settled in"
So we get upstairs, get in our room...yada yada yada. Now Jeff's too scared to leave me to go get the bag....not sure how quickly he thought this whole birth thing was going to take place, but I finally convinced him to go get my bag (mainly b/c the camera was in it!). He was gone FOREVER! I started to think that he might miss it! He gets back, finally.
Kim: "What took so long"
Jeff: "Well, I had to go get the keys from the valet person and go up to the 4th level to get the bag out of the car. I got the bag came back down and the guy asked for the keys....so I had to go back up to the 4th level to get the keys out of the car door where I had left them"
How cute is my husband!!!!
So, they start pitosin (about 12:00) and break my water.....let the fun begin.
We, in the meantime are busy on the phones trying to find alternate routes for our family to get to the hospital...still flooding in case you've forgotten!
So we spend some time watching TV, trying to calm Jeff down, and visiting with his dad and Nan who are the only ones who have managed to wade into the hospital.
I began having noticeable contractions about 1:30. Funny story, I was talking to Nan and she said "when will they let you have the epidural?" I said "hmm I don't know" so I turn to my nurse (Lou, whom I loved, I was so sad when she went off duty) and ask "when do you guys do the epidural?" She said with a smirk on her face "You just have to ask for it" OKAY.....give me the drugs...seriously...don't you think they should let a girl know that?? Who needs contractions!! So, needless to say my afternoon got a lot easier at that point. Well, for a while anyway!
Because of my blood pressure issues, Dr. Wynne put me on Mag for the delivery. Mag is an evil evil thing. I felt like my blood was boiling inside my body...I was red and flushed....not to mention very sick (as if that was a new thing for this pregnancy). The bed pan and I became good friends during delivery!
The rest of the afternoon/evening was kind of a blur. My mom finally got in from Dallas about 6:00...which we were worried about...my sister was there, My friend Mandy, Jeff's mom, Jeff's Aunt, Jeff's Dad and Nan. Because I was so sick and needed to rest, the nurses kicked everyone but Jeff, my mom and my sister out about 7:30 (I think)
By 8:15 I was dilated to a 8 to 9...and by 9:25 the head was low so we started pushing. I say we....pretty sure I did this part on my own!! I had pushed for less than an hour when Brady crowned. I guess my pushing ability caught everyone off guard, b/c when he crowned the doctor had not been called in. So the nurse looked at me and said "stop...just wait"
Me: " hahahahaha...WHAT?" So for about 4 minutes I stopped - did I mention that my epidural only numbed one side....so this whole waiting thing was really comfortable!
Finally, I'd had it...I looked at the nurse and said "I'm pushing NOW"
Everyone got in position, and thank GOD they did b/c with one push Brady literally shot out. All you can hear is the doctor and the nurses going "oh my gosh" as the doctor (not my OB she couldn't be there) literally caught him. My cute little husband said "what was that? OH MY GOSH" It was really that fast!!
So just like that, at 10:45 on August 16th, 2007 our little man made his entrance. 35 weeks of morning sickness....3 months of bedrest, all over, and all well worth it.
Jeff cut the umbilical cord, and the NICU doctors took Brady to do some preliminary tests because he was a preemie! A preemie that weighed 7lbs and 14 1/2 ounces!
And now 4 months later weighs 18 lbs and is 26 inches long....yeah...he's a preemie!
So there it is, Brady's Birthday. Hope it was worth the wait...it definitely was for us!!!
Mommy and Daddy!
My Nurse Lou - she was amazing - she actually came to visit me and meet Brady the next day!
My little preemie with the NICU doctors
We finally meet
poor little guy...all hooked up to NICU monitors

Brady Scott Brewer was born August 16, 2007 at 10:45 pm. He weighed 7lbs and 14.5 oz. and was 20 1/4 inches long. A pretty big boy considering he was 4 weeks early!!! He spent some time in NICU but was finally released to be with mommy and daddy, and we all got to go home Saturday night!!! We're so glad to finally have our little boy here with us! Enjoy the pictures!!
