a little sand and sun!

We decided Thursday night to make a quick trip to the beach Friday afternoon.  The weather was beautiful and the thought of relaxing on the beach was very inviting!  So, we headed down to the beach, had a shrimp dinner, did a little playing on the beach Friday night, and woke up Saturday morning for a full day!!  We got to the beach about 8:30, and Brady’s friend Trenton and Mrs. Stacy joined us about 9:00.  The boys had a great time playing ,as usual, and Brady showed Trenton the ropes on the beach!!!  Thank you Grandma for letting us share your beach house!!  We’re very excited about having the beach so accessible  for a little mini vaca’s this summer!!

Take me out to the ball game

Last night I got last minute Astros tickets from a friend at work, so Jeff and I decided this would be the perfect time for Brady’s first game!!

We got there early (very early) for batting practice. We had great first base dugout seats, but  Brady was not the least bit interested in sitting in his seat, he wanted to march right down to the field where the balls were!!  He was not AT ALL happy that he couldn’t get on the field and play with the guys!!  So needless to say distractions were very necessary at this point.  I was beginning to think we wouldn’t even make it to the first inning!  BUT, after some chicken nuggets, french fries, ice cream, a cookie, some peanuts, and time spent in the main squeeze kids area we were good to go!!!  We made it through 3 entire innings, which meant Brady made it from 5:30-8:30, and considering 7:00 is usually bedtime I was pretty impressed!  He got to see his first homerun, and of course got a few souvenirs to take home!  And to make the night even better they were playing the Brewers!  Nothing better than going to a game where the opposing team wears your name on their jersey!!!  All in all we had a great time and look forward to many more memories at the ballpark!

Where are we daddy??

Brady got a little wooden bat that has the Astros logo on it.  He didn’t put it down all night!!!May 093

All about getting an “A”

So I’m sitting in my office today, minding my own business, when a student walks by.  I happen to look at his shirt…..wait a minute…..is that who I think it is on your shirt????IMG_0140It seems several students are sporting these shirts today at CBHS.  WOW, kids will do anything to suck up and get a “A” won’t they?!?!?!?  I don’t know what’s more sad, the fact that they’re wearing my husband on their shirt or that my husband obviously, at some point, posed for this picture!!!

There comes a time

in every boys life when buying trains and train tracks are a MUST!  We hit that point on Saturday!  We’d planned a family outing to an indoor jump palace, but when we got there it was closed.  SO, thinking quickly we decided to go to Toys r Us to “just play”.  ( And I’m aware that everyone just said, out loud, YEAH RIGHT..sure they’re just going to play!)  Well, we got there and  happened upon the train “area”.  They had a table with tracks and thomas trains set up on it.  Brady went running to it chanting “choo choo, choo choo”  he sat there and played with the trains on the track for 15 minutes…that’s when we pulled him away kicking and screaming!!  So we made the executive decision to go to Target and buy him the much cheaper train tracks and a few trains!  (and for all you boy momma’s out there, the Target train tracks fit Thomas and Brio trains and are MUCH cheaper!!)We put them together Saturday afternoon and he’s been “choo chooing” ever since!!!!

This is Brady’s classic face/command as of late.  When he wants you to play with him he points to the exact spot and says “SIT DOOOWWN”  so polite!!May 018

Hours of fun!!May 021

We took a break from the trains and played out side a little.   You know you take too many pictures when your husband and son start conspiring to make silly faces while you’re snapping away!!!

Special Memories

Mothers Day is such a special day.  Now that I’m a mom, Mothers day is such a reminder of all the great mothers in my life!  My mom and grandmothers were and are such role models for me.  Each of them loving me unconditionally, because let’s face it I’m not always easy to love!  And each of them influencing me and molding me in their own special way.  I would definitely not be the mother I am today without those three women!  I love you mom, granny, and grandmom!!

Today was a day of special memories as I’m sure each mother day will be.  It’s such an honor to be a mother…..to know and be reminded that God chose me to mother my sweet little man.  I hope and pray that I can be for Brady what my mom and grandmothers were and are for me.

I woke up this morning to breakfast in bed with a side of roses, went to church and spend the day with my two favorite men!!   And this afternoon we grilled hamburgers for dinner and made a very special dessert.  I know I talked about all the “mothers” in my life, but truth be told I have  had several special people in my life, not all of who have been women.  My dad being one, and my grandfather whom I lost 10 years ago last month being another. Pa was a very special man.  The  sweetest most unassuming man I’ve ever met.  He never had a negative thing to say about anyone, and I love and miss him very much.  What does all this have to do with your special dessert you may be asking?  Well, one of the special memories I have of Pa is of him sitting on the back porch making a freezer of homemade ice cream.  It was his specialty and he LOVED it.   Pa was not a big man, but he could put back more ice cream than anyone I know!  So today when I walked on my back porch and saw my son and my  husband  freezing homemade ice cream a ton of sweet memories came flooding back.  There are more than a few pictures of me, my sister and my cousins doing just this with my grandfather!  What a fun tradition to pass on to a new generation!

SOO, all this sappiness to say that mothers day is such a special day.  I am honored to be a mother, and so thankful for all the mothers AND fathers in my life that have been such amazing role models.

Yummy Ice cream!!May 179

BIG BITE!  Your great grandfather would be so proud!May 180
