Time Out

Oh my goodness I’m raising a stinker!!  I’ve always prayed that Brady would have Jeff’s personality!  But more and more I’m discovering that my sweet little man is a little stubborn and ornery just like his momma!!!

Brady is at the stage where he is constantly testing us.   Example:

Me: “Brady, stay on the sidewalk”

Brady looks up at me, lifts up one foot and puts it in the grass……maintaining eye contact the whole time….seriously taunting me as if to say “I’m not on the sidewalk anymore what are you going to do about it?”

So, needless to say we’ve entered the world of time outs.  I’ve chosen one spot in the house and that’s where I put Brady for time out.  He hasn’t had to go a ton, but there have definitely been some rotten moments that have landed him under the bar!   It was working…he seemed to be listening better.  UNTIL  the other night…….One of his favorite things to do is turn off the TV…even though he knows he’s not supposed to.  So he began his trek to the TV with his arm stretched out finger pointed at the button looking at me as if daring me to tell him no.  I said “Brady Scott (yes I’m turning into my mother I used his middle name!) if you turn off that TV you’re going to time out.”  so what did Brady do you might ask?  Well he turned off the TV, walked over and put himself in time out.  I guess it was worth it!!!  So if anyone has a suggestion as to what…other than time out…. I can use please let me know!!!

don’t let this sweet little face fool you….he’s 100% ROTTEN!February 016

We have moved Brady to a new day care.  He’s in a preschool class with 20 other kiddo’s and 5 teachers.  He’s loving it and has really learned a lot in the 4 short weeks he’s been there.  Every day when I pick him up I of course ask how his day was and if he was good…you know the normal routine.  Yesterday he ran to me and I was holding him and talking to one of his teachers.  I said “did he have to go to time out today?”  Before she could answer, Brady put his hand on my face turned me toward him and shook his head violently and said “no…no"”  GREAT!  let’s add lying to our list!!

I know these stories are probably boring to everyone except the grandparents, but I wanted to remember this time.  As frustrating as it sometimes is, it’s so fun to see his personality  blossom and to watch him learn as he tests us.   He is talking more everyday and really learning to tell us what he wants…thank goodness I was about done with all the pointing and grunting!!  AND last night he pointed to the picture on the refrigerator and said “Grandanny”…I know not an easy word to say!!  Needless to say Grandanny was very happy and Nana was very jealous!!!!

another pic of my cute, ornery little man!!!  Good thing he’s got that cute dimpled smile huh?!?!?!?February 090

One Fish Two Fish

Red Fish Blue Fish!!!  So I’ve switched from songs to book titles!!!  Jeff and I had planned to do a family trip to the zoo on Sunday….look at the animals, have a picnic….the whole works.  Well, the weather didn’t exactly cooperate, so we decided to take Brady to the Aquarium at Moody Gardens.  Brady and I have been a couple of times, but never with Daddy, and we haven’t been since Brady learned to walk.  SO I was really excited to see how he reacted to all the fish!

Needless to say he loved it!!!  Grandma was already in Galveston so she met us there and Brady had a great time running around and showing us all the fish!  We even learned how to do a fish face!!!

Come on guys let’s go!  February 025

Today might be valentines day, but we did most of our celebrating yesterday!! Brady had a party at his new preschool and here are the treats he made for all his teachers…..isn’t he a sweet boy???

February 097

After school, Brady decided he wanted to host a valentines party for a few of his friends. Brady is a very good host! We had heart shaped pizza, heart shaped cupcakes, fruit and he even made each of his friends a heart shaped treat! We played outside, decorated foam hearts (well some of us did) and ate the yummy food! We had a great time and are so glad our friends could come and celebrate with us!

Hungry??

Brady’s favorite food right now?  CORN!  Corn cut off the cob….NO SIR.  Gotta be on the cob!  It makes a big mess, but an ear of corn is the best way for Jeff and I to  make it through a meal in a restaurant…keeps him busy for quite a while…I’m sure the waiters love us!!   We were at my parents house about a month ago and Brady finished his ear of corn and then moved on and polished off BOTH of his cousins!  Not only does he CLEAN the cob, but the eating of the corn is accompanied with all kinds of grunts and “mmmmms” and “ahhhs”.  Quite amusing!  My dad used to be so embarrassed when I ate corn as a child.  He would always tell me that when I started dating it would be in my best interest to NEVER eat corn on the cob on a date!  Maybe that’s why I was 28 before I got married?!?!  Anyway…Grandanny these pics are for you!

mmmmmmmmmmFebruary 031

Fun in the Sand

Oh my goodness I LOVE this time of  year in Houston!!  I know it’s still winter, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.  This weekend was beautiful!!  We (when I say we I mean Jeff) finally put sand in the sandbox below the fort on Brady’s new swing set.  We got some sand toys and seriously spent the rest of the weekend outside.  I could open the back door, let the little guy out and cook dinner as I watched Brady happily play in his new sandbox!!  So fun…I loved every minute of it, and obviously Brady was in heaven!!  I’ll have to keep these pictures handy to remember how awesome this time was when we are dripping with sweat after just walking to the sandbox this summer!!!

I never want to go inside again Mommy!February 047

I found sand in the most interesting places Saturday night!!!  Thus the reason for the bubble bath!!!!February 052

And totally not sand related, but cute nonetheless!  Is he Jeff’s son or what?!?!!?!??!?February 026

BUBBLES!

After a hard day of playing nothing feels better than a bubble bath!!!  I’m not sure why, but Brady’s never really taken a bubble bath…so Saturday night we filled the tub with Bubbles.  He wasn’t exactly sure what to do at first, but as you can see, he quickly figured it out!

Mom, there’s something on my head…February 065

Spring Training

Baseball season has begun…or at least it has at the Brewer house!!!  We bought this tee set around Christmas time for Jacob, but since Jacob already had one, we decided to keep it thinking Brady would enjoy one maybe this summer some time.  After watching him hit the ball off the tee at Coopers birthday party, we decided it might be time to get the set out of the closet!  And we were right!  He needs a little fine tuning (we might send him to Trenton’s daddy for lessons!) but he’s pretty darn good!!!  Next stop…the major leagues!!!  Or tee ball….whatever!

Got to make sure the grip is right….January 134
